For Which I’m Grateful

I’m a sap. I’m not gonna lie. I love happy endings. I love sweet, gooey love stories. I love family time. I love alone time. I cried when Bambi’s mom died. I cried when the soul mate Skyped me from San Diego. I cried when Matt left Aubrey in With Abandon (gah! I love those guys).

My point is I get mushy. Not often. Not all the time. But I do it and I’m not ashamed. That being said—brace yourselves. I’m about to get all kinds of mush.

give thanks

Today, on this day of thanks, I am grateful for my family. I have an amazing family—including the most lovable, adorable four-year-old niece on the planet. My mother is a rock and my sister a sounding board. I am blessed to have each of them in my life. As a family of women, I don’t believe I’m remiss in saying we are strong. We’re fighters. We’re happy. And we’re whole. But mostly we are strong.

I also am thankful for a group of friends who have kept me afloat when I wasn’t so sure I could so much as tread water. My Jason and David keep me smiling and listen to me rant and rave when I need to rant and rave. My Jayden keeps me sane and lets me give her the support that is only a fraction of what she gives me. My Lexi has a heart of gold and a silver tongue. She’s talented and beautiful and the most down to earth, sweetest person I know. And my Piper is my Piper. She’s a mentor and a leader and one of those people you just can’t live without once you have her. I am blessed to have these people in my life.

I am beyond thankful for my readers. I can’t really say new and old because I’ve only been out here for a little over a year, but you guys rock my world with your kind words and love for my (our) characters. You’re supportive and vocal and fabulous! I honestly don’t know where I’d be right now without you.

And of course my publishers, Dreamspinner Press and Less Than Three Press, without y’all I would be sitting on the sidelines where I grew too comfortable. Publishers, editors, proofers—you guys keep me on point and make me look good and for that I am most definitely grateful.

This list is not conclusive. There are so many people out there who support and love me but not half as much as I adore them (Megan, Brandy, Nicole, Brandon, Thomas, Will, Lex, Charlie, Cate, Sam, Patricia, Rhys, Mary, Christi, Christy, Shirley, Kristen, CC—see? too many people to count). So many of you have had my back and helped me through this crazy year, and even if I’ve left your name off of this inconclusive list, please know that I am beyond thankful to have you in my life.

Here’s to 2015, to family, to friends, to love, and to life. May we have an abundance of each in the upcoming year.

Happy Thanksgiving!
